Contrology

Pilates will help strengthen your core and improve flexibility. The Wunda Chair is one of the many apparatus you can use to challenge yourself.

A method of exercise that emphasizes precise movements, core strength and flexibility originally called CONTROLOGY known commonly as pilates. Practiced world-wide pilates uses a combination of receptive exercises focusing on breath, spinal alignment, powerhouse activation and pelvic mobility. The wide range of exercises can be modified to fit multiple fitness levels allowing participants to build strength and flexibility. Joseph Pilates wanted to restore physical vitality, invigorate the mind, and elevate the spirit. I took my first class in 2024 and was simply hooked and decided to expand my practice to become an instructor.

The wunda chair is a versatile apparatus that can used in various positions to challenge balance, upper/lower body and core. Designed to work with all fitness levels using a spring-loaded platform. In my opinion, it can also be one of the most challenging of the apparatus especially when working into level 3 or 4 exercises. When it comes to pilates, I try to always remind clients to simply workout with the body that they showed up with today because not every day is going to be the same.

During my journey of becoming a comprehensively trained pilates instructor I learned about multiple apparatus. Allowing me the opportunity to teach others about mat, reformer, trapeze, barrel, tower, and spring-wall. Each apparatus shares similar benefits but allows the participant to be challenged in new ways. The most commonly used apparatus being the reformer which allows for a wide range of exercise variations for multiple levels. No matter which type of contrology you decide to use you will gain core strength and flexibility.

Finding Balance

Happiness is feet in straps.

Over the last 9 months my life has been non stop pilates. After completing my 450 hour training, it is all about finding a balance.

Being a new instructor can be overwhelming, and I can’t thank my lucky stars enough for allowing me the opportunity to come out of training with not one, but two teaching offers. Still finding time to enjoy family life along with time to expand and work on my practice as well. I fell in love with pilates back in June of 2024, taking my first reformer class after signing up to become an instructor. Now I have a reformer instead of a dining room table ( and no we don’t eat on it).

Ready to start your pilates journey, contact me today.

I did it!!!

Waking up the morning of my practicum I had an overwhelming sense of calmness. Knowing that I did everything I could up to this point to prepare. I practiced cueing and making sure I knew corrections that should be given during the exercises the client was going to perform. That day I even took a reformer class at Reform You before hand. Walking into the studio feeling like a million dollars, knowing that I was on my way to taking the next step of my journey.

My practicum went amazing, I ended up using the entire time, completing all the moves I had written down. I felt confident and knew I gave my client an amazing workout. The next day, I had to take the written test. Which ended up being a little different as I was expecting multiple choice, however it was almost all short answer. Coming out with a perfect score for my practicum and only one point under perfect on the written. Honestly, I am so excited to say I have completed my 450 Comprehensive Pilates program and am now a certified Pilates instructor.

Embarking on a new journey…

Honestly, my life lately has been a chaotic mess to say the least. However things are starting to smooth out, and I am being lead down a new path. This month, I decided to sign up to start a Comprehensive Pilates Teaching Course. Personally, it feels a little weird since I just began my pilates journey in April. However, I have fallen in love with the classes and I am ready to start the program in September. Taking this step will not only help improve my own body, mind and health but allow me to help others on their own journey.

Some of you are probably thinking I am absolutely crazy right now, and that’s okay. Well maybe I am, but have you ever felt like your so gravitated towards something that deep down you know its your calling. That’s the feeling I currently have, so please stay tuned and embark on this journey with me, as I find a leaner, stronger version of me.
